This week wrapped the first sight of Haute Couture in the fashion world since the pandemic began last year. A culmination of digital displays, in person runways, and street style that put on a show of its own, it was a taste of hope for the return of fashion. We’ve been dropping hints on our Instagram all week, but here’s the full scoop on our Paris Couture Week faves.

Balenciaga is back with its first haute couture collection in 53 years, revived by the brand's creative director, Demna Gvasalia. Oh, and if you look closely––you may just see Ella Emhoff, IMG-signed model and stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, make her PFW debut.

Extra! Extra! We’re all about it. Entitled ‘The Matador’, this overstated take on haute couture is dripping in gold and serving surrealism. If that weren’t enough, this collection gave us that lung necklace and little black dress—the ones all over your Instagram feeds worn by Bella Hadid at the Cannes Film Festival

One word—otherworldly. The always fantastical Iris van Herpen collaborated with several artists to create her ‘Earthrise’ collection, which incorporates 3D designs, ‘intricate craftolution, devotion and venturesomeness’, says the brand on Instagram.

Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss simultaneously made the brands haute couture debut and his own personal debut as the first Black designer on the couture calendar in 150 years.  A tribute to Black excellence and invention, this collection is history in the MAKING—OK!

Full of playful pops of colour and fun hair sculptures, last but certainly not least is Giambattista Valli. When it comes to Valli and tulle, too much is never enough for us.
