A reimagined CFDA Fashion Fund

The winners of the
CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund
have been chosen for 2021,
and this year the selection
committee was feeling generous.

BY: LAUREN KNOWLES

10 American finalists were selected and judged by none other than Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Canadian Aurora James of Brother Vellies and the 15 Percent Pledge, and the one and only Tom Ford—just to name drop a few of many.

Unlike the past where only one top prize was awarded in pair with two runner ups, each of the 10 finalists will receive grants and a full year of mentorship from industry leaders. The finalists include Batsheva Hay of Batsheva, Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta of Eckhaus Latta, Anifa Mvuemba of Hanifa, Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka of House of Aama, Kenneth Nicholson, Jameel Mohammed of Khiry, Abrima Erwiah of Studio One Eighty Nine, Edvin Thompson of Theophilio, Willy Chavarria—

and our personal fave,
LaQuan Smith.

Established in 2003, this award aims to help up-and-coming American designers grow and prosper as they continue to make a name for themselves within the fashion industry. Reflecting the unprecedented and ever-changing times we are currently living in, the format of the Fashion Fund was reimagined for 2021 to support all 10 finalists.
