By Brittany Sinclair
You can smoke it, you can soap it, you can wear it, you can self-care with it. The possibilities seem endless! For this feature we are highlighting a few exciting ways cannabis has entered the beauty market and the various benefits it can provide. Before we do, here is a bit of background behind the ‘buzz’ worthy ingredients.
While hemp seed oil based products have been around for decades, who hasn’t used the bodyshop’s hemp hand cream, the new spotlight is on CBD, short for cannabidiol. CBD is a chemical compound from the Cannabid sativa plant (marijuana) and found in hemp oil. Hemp oil and hemp seed oil are very different products. The main difference is one contains CBD, hemp oil, and the other does not. While hemp seed oil does not contain THC, the psychoactive effect from the plant, CBD oil can.
There are generally
three different types
of CBD oil on the market:
*FULL SPECTRUM CBD OIL, which contains all compounds of the cannabis plant, including THC, broad spectrum
*BROAD-SPECTRUM CBD OIL, which contains several compounds but not THC
*CBD OIL MADE USING CBD ISOLATE, which contains only CBD
Always double check the label to know exactly what your getting. CBD’s superhero properties include anti-oxidizing, oil balancing and anti- inflammatory. Hemp seed oil has amazing benefits for internal health and skin disorders like eczema. Cannabis derived beauty products have become the perfect fit for the current holistic and health aligned beauty trends of repair, protection and therapy.
